In 2017, Speech Pathology Week is looking to promote Communication Access with their theme “Everyone gets the message”.

Chances are you’ll know at least of the estimated 1.1 million Australians (around 5% of our population) that has a communication disorder.

These people face communication barriers on a daily basis which in turn, stops them from participating fully in community life.

Communication access is about creating a world where people with communication difficulties can communicate successfully with everyone.  Building access will ensure everyone is treated with dignity and respect.  When we create communication accessible communities, everyone gets the message.
